Caroline Aherne was the final portrait I drew as part of my Manchester Icons series (that is if I don't get my arm twisted into doing a Morrissey and/or a Liam Gallagher). She'd died just a few months before I finished it as it was one of those portraits I'd been gently working on for a few months. It ended up feeling slightly melancholic when I eventually finished it, but it's saving grace is the sheer happiness of it. A few friends have commented on the cheeky look and how it reminds them of her in her many comedic guises. She always loved to pop a cheeky grin.
