The internet's awash with wild stories of Iggy Pop in his heyday. Everything from cutting himself up during gigs, to knocking out audience members with melons, throwing globs of peanut butter at fans, whipping his knob out onstage and getting David Bowie to smuggle coke to him in a psychiatric hospital. He was (and still is) a truly bizarre rock star. I love drawing oddballs and Iggy was a joy, what with all his poppy out veins and his bendy, gristly torso. I used one of my favourite colours as the background (one I've previously used on an Ivor Cutler portrait from a few years ago) - it's a really warm and vivid orange and grabs peoples attention, a bit like Iggy himself.
