Every artist has a few favourites and I think is my favourite portrait from the last few months. The collaged jacket gives it a cool added dimension and visual texture, and the maroony-purple card I got in a Paperchase sale is a gorgeous colour (shame I can't find any more of it). Sir David Attenborough is probably this country's greatest living icon (of any sort). Sure, a few people will say it's the Queen and a few quirkier types might whisper Stephen Fry or Michael Palin, but it's Dave all the way for me. His mellifluously toned nature programmes have spanned the entire length of my life and brought hours and hours of joy. So when it came to thinking about a few icons I could draw and could see hanging in homes and bringing a smile to people's fizzogs, his was one of the first names that popped into my head. More will of course follow.
